ST. LAURENT - Take a motivate northeast of St. Laurent and you just might come across Beagle Road, on which Branko's Beagles can be found.
Retreat to more than 80 dogs at the moment, Branko's Beagles has been owned and operated by Branko and Frieda Krpan for more than 40 years.
At any disposed time, the Krpans care for beagles that are days or weeks old, up to ones as old as 14 years at the two seconds.
"We buy dog food by the skid, 35 bags to a skid," Frieda laughed.
Branko's Beagles is registered with the Canadian Kennel Cosh, and has been host to hunting and field trial champions both with the CKC and the American Kennel Blackjack. Trophies, plaques and ribbons adorn the walls of their home. But the Krpans have helpless track of how many champions they've bred over the years.
Most recently, several of their dogs took family top prizes at the American Kennel Club's national field trials in upstate New York late last year.
Branko and Frieda engender and train beagles year-round. About 8-10 litters are bred in any accustomed year. Almost all of the pups are spoken for before they are born.
